Henning von Schulman

Henning von Schulman is a freelancing operatic base. He was member of the Royal Danish Opera soloist ensemble 2013 until 2017. Among his recent roles are Leporello in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Banco in Verdi’s Macbeth, Sarastro in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte and Henrik in Nielsen’s Maksarade. The season 15/16 he made his Norwegian debut as Sarastro in Oslo and his first title role as Figaro in Copenhagen. 16/17 Henning sings Colline in la Boheme, Figaro and Banco in Copenhagen, he also goes back to Köln for Raimondo in Lucia di Lammermoor

His round characteristic voice has won him prizes at the international competitions of Wilhelm Stenhammar in Norrköping 2014 and Otto Edelman’s in Vienna 2013. He was also rewarded the 2016 Birgit Nilsson-price for being “a young and exceptionally gifted bass singer”

With his broad repertoire of Lieder he often sings solo concerts with several programs like Die Winterreise or his personal favourite; Songs And Dances Of Death by Mussorgsky.
